H2 Control of Rational Parameter-dependent Continuous-time Systems: a Parametric Lyapunov Function Approach

This paper presents an LMI based design method for static output feedback controllers with a guaranteed H2 performance. The method can be applied to a class of continuous-time linear systems with either rational or polynomial parameter dependence, provided that the parameters and their rate of variation are bounded by a given polytope. Stability as well as a H2 performance bound are guaranteed via a rational parameter-dependent Lyapunov function. The method can be used to design: robust controllers, LPV controllers, and non-fragile controllers with prescribed ranges of errors that can be tolerated in the implementation of the designed control gains.
